Even though we are a young company, Forristal Woodwork has long been in the making. During a trip to Japan in 2010 founder Ed discovered a love of woodworking. Somewhere in the mountains of the Kyoto prefecture he found himself cutting down trees to build his host a garage. Upon returning to Ireland he decided to continue his learning and pursue woodwork full time.
Working predominantly with traditional hand tools allows us to get very familiar with the wood, it's grain and natural patterns. The hours of work that this traditional approach takes is uncommon now in a world pressured to produce more quickly than ever.
We are completely reliant on wood, using no nails or screws in our pieces.
Modern design with a traditional approach
Our aim, is to provide traditional, quality pieces that fit with a modern setting.
